Monday Motivation: Skill is everything.
My last race season was tough. A badly executed season-opening race shredded my confidence. Injured ankles limited my run. Training missteps and an unwillingness to be flexible compounded my problems. What can you take away from a season in the suck zone?
The most important lesson for me was the realization was that I had gotten as far as I could trading on tough, relying on stubborn and depending on brute strength. It was time to skill up, maybe past time to skill up.
So I worked with the amazing triathlon coach, Katie Malone to improve my swim. Found an outstanding physical therapist, Kent Kurfman of the ATI Running Institute Team to help me rebuild my ankles and my run. And read Fast After 50 and Triathlete EQ to learn how to train for a better season and make sure I can execute effectively on race day. Click the links above for more info.
The assets you need to recover and/or improve are out there find them. Discover a way, build a way, if necessary, invent a way to stumble onward.
