1. You know you had a good workout when after weight lifting you have to get someone else in the gym to open your protein shake.
2. You know you had a good workout when your Garmin beeps and the alert asks you if you have traveled to another continent.
3. You know you had a good workout when after several hours, an empty hydration pack, two homemade granola bars, a fine patina of mud and moss, and four vultures circling, you realize it has been an epic mountain bike ride.
4. You know you had a good workout when you get off the bike trainer and notice the pool of sweat is roughly the same shape as Barbados. So you check to see if they have a triathlon there, because Pareidolia. BFIT – the national triathlon association of Barbados.
5. You know you had a good workout when after doing extensive core work you are so sore that when your cats jumps up on your belly you make a sound like a Wookie fighting a bagpipe.
6. You know you had a good workout when the day after your track interval workout you walk entirely around your workplace to avoid walking down a flight of stairs.
7. You know you had a good workout when after a particularly grueling swim you have to cross the pool and use the stairs to get out. You slump onto the bleachers and close your eyes. You overhear a small child waiting on her swim lesson ask her mother if you are dead.
On a personal note: Sometimes when I’m on the bike trainer I try to pay careful attention to the workout, wattages, belly breathing and explore different pedaling strategies. And sometimes I minimize TrainerRoad, play a movie and try to stay close on the wattages, just happy that I’m getting some bike time. What is your approach to bike trainer workouts?
